Ben Veitch

Ben Veitch from ‘Zealous Choreography’ was the inaugural Artist in Residence based at The Arts Centre Gold Coast.  The culmination of this collaboration resulted in the creation of Blood, Sweat and Dance.  Choreographed, written and devised by Ben.

Ben won the hearts of many dedicated lovers of dance from both the professional world and viewers from the suburban households who had the pleasure of watching him dance on So You Think You Can Dance, 2009. Ben was the  virtuoso charismatic dancer, able to convey light-hearted venturesomeness or deep emotion when called for. Ben’s versatility and execution of a dance routine was prized for its elegance, grace, strength, originality and precision.
Since completing his commitments as a top four finalist on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Ben has had the opportunity to choreograph, perform and teach all over Australia. Ben aspires to give back to the dance community and aims to maintain a strong commitment to furthering education in dance, by offering training to promote the virtues of a career in dance to future generations. Ben’s teaching methods are renowned around Australia.
Ben Veitch began his dancing career studying dance and acrobatics on the Gold Coast, under the direction of his mentor Robert Sturrock. Ben made his musical theatre debut in the Australian world premiere production of Dirty Dancing, in which he performed as part of the ensemble and understudied the role of Billy. Ben then went on and performed as a featured dancer in The Boy From Oz starring Hugh Jackman. Other stage credits include Hidden Palace and Rhythm of the Night for Jupiter’s Casino. In addition to performing on stage and theatre, Ben has appeared at, and choreographed for, many large corporate events, fashion shows and conventions nationally. Ben has featured in film clips for Marcia Hines, Guy Sebastian and at the MO Awards. Television credits include Big Brother (with Deni Hines) and The Footy Show and featured dancer for many national recording stars. Ben has had the unique opportunity to appear in film and worked as an actor/dancer on George Miller’s Academy Award winning animated feature film Happy Feet.
