I've never danced before - Am I welcome at Mad Dance House?
Yes- All you need is a desire to learn and you are 50% of the way there, in our opinion! If you have never danced before and you really want to learn to dance, commiting to regualr class/es a week and consistently (week in, week out) will pay off. Should you just want to learn for fun - this is cool too- our advice is just HAVE FUN and only do our level zero or level 1 classes.
TIP: It is always good to remember that we have a stack of dancers that have been coming for some time so even in our level 1 classes you will see beginners that have almost mastered this level and ready to move up.
When should I start?
Any time is a great time to start at MDH.
In most classes, the choreography changes weekly so you will learn the choreography as the class progresses.
What should I wear?
We encourage you to wear clothing that you're comfortable in and allows you to move! For Ballet, Contemporary and technique classes, tighter fitting clothes are recommended to get the most out of your class.
Do I need special shoes?
Yes. We allow you to do 2 weeks in 'makeshift' footwear (such as socks for Ballet and trainers for Jazz) but after this we prefer and think it better for you to dance in correct footwear.
Ballet shoes for Ballet classes.
Bare feet /socks for contemporary.
Proper Jazz Shoes for Jazz.
Trainers for Hip Hop styles.
Tap- Tap Shoes (we have free tap shoes hire at front desk)
DISCOUNTS Grab a BLOCH 5% discount card from front desk. They sell dance wear and dance shoes.
Do I need to bring anything?
We recommend you bring some water to class (we sell water at reception) and you may even like to bring a hand towel as you're likely to work up a sweat!
Is there anything I should do before I come in for my first class?
Before you come in for your class, we ask that you set up a profile on our website. Once set up, this will allow you to view our timetable, book into classes, pay for classes and view your schedule. To get started, click on the white arrow that says "Sign up" on the top right of the screen and follow the prompts!
Which class should I do?
For our new starters, we always recommend that you begin with either a Level 0, 1 or an All Level class. As you become more confident, you may like to try a level 2 class. Because we are an adult school, you dance at your own discretion. When you feel ready to try a harder level- go for it.
