The “barre” was set for Tamara when she started learning ballet at the early age of four. Her passion and dedication towards the art form led her to complete her school years alongside part-time training with the Queensland Dance School of Excellence, from which she graduated in 2004 to be accepted into the Queensland Ballet Company’s Professional Year Program. During this time, she performed in multiple productions as a trainee dancer before receiving a full-time contract with the company under Artistic Director Francois Klaus. She remained as a Company Dancer performing both corps de ballet and soloist roles and touring annually throughout Australia and internationally and continued under the directorship of current Artistic Director, Li Cunxin. Moving to Germany in 2014, Tamara joined the Anhaltisches Theatre in Dessau as a Guest Artist. She then went on to perform as a Soloist dancer with the Deutsche Opera Ballet in Berlin until her return to Australia in late 2016.

Presently based in Meanjin/Brisbane, Tamara upholds a passion for developing technical proficiency and artistry in dancers. She fosters an ongoing curiosity about how dance and wellbeing can interconnect and is especially emboldened by programs that celebrate diversity in what it means to be a dancer. This has driven her enthusiasm to embark on a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree with the Queensland University of Technology exploring how ballet teachers can help bolster more constructive ways of striving towards goals for students.

In a nutshell, Tamara believes in the powerful impacts that dance can bring to individuals and communities and envisions a future that includes innovative ways to expand upon outreach and participation in dance across broader communities.
