Choreography

Choreography

  • Ngavaine (also known as Ninie) started dancing when she was around 11 years old. She trained mainly in Hip Hop, and at 17 she moved away from home to join dance crew The Royal Family under global superstar Parris Goebel.

    When The Royal Family’s all-female crew ReQuest danced with Jennifer Lopez on the finale of American Idol, it led to Ngvaine and five other girls landing a contract with Cirque De Soleil in Michael Jackson ONE.

    After two years living and dancing in Vegas, she moved to Australia and started teaching and mentoring dancers.

  • Jasmine began dancing at the age of 3 and studied Tap, Jazz and Ballet. As the years went on, Jasmine expanded her repertoire to include Hip Hop / Street Dance. All these different styles fused together have created Jasmine’s own Street Style, which she is now renowned for.

    Jasmine and Luis (the other half of team Mega Jam) have been performing, choreographing and teaching workshops all over the world thanks to the success of their Mega Jam You Tube channel which has 1.5 million subscribers and has racked up over 500 million video views globally, making it one of the biggest commercial choreography dance channels in the world.

    After 3 European workshop tours and pop up classes across the USA Jaz has now settled back in Brisbane to continue doing what she loves most, choreographing and teaching commercial dance classes.

    “My style is a very feminine, girly style of hip hop for the most part, but I like to change it up from week to week. I like lots of different styles of music so that reflects in my classes / choreography. But most of all it’s about having fun and just loving music and dance”

  • Luis has been performing and teaching dance since the 1980s, influenced by the rise of Hip Hop music and the many styles of dance that fall under this dynamic and constantly evolving genre.

    His style is a melting pot of Ol’ Skool Hip Hop and Nu Skool Hip Hop featuring such styles as B Boying, Lockin’, Poppin’, Krump and other styles fused into what he calls an Urban Street Jazz class.

    Luis Pinto and Jasmine Meakin are the creators of the YouTube Channel Mega Jam, that has accumulated 500 million views and 1,4 Million Subscribers.

    Through the success of their You Tube Channel Luis and Jasmine have toured the world teaching their unique style of Hip Hop.

    Luis started his dancing career as a Freestyle Street Dancer in the 1980’s he strengthened his foundation with two years of Jazz training which gave him the tools to be able to break down his freestyle ability and create his own style of choreography.

    Luis understands how difficult it is to learn someone else’s choreography, he believes in teaching with patience and clarity so you don’t feel alienated in class….don’t be afraid to ask questions!

Ballet

  • Former member of Introdans (The Netherlands), Staatstheater am Gaertnerplatz (Germany) and Classical Ballet Lecturer at Griffith University/Queensland Conservatorium.

    John has taught at Queensland University of Technology, Queensland Dance School of Excellence, Australian Conservatoire of Ballet affiliate schools and as Guest Teacher for Expressions Dance Company.

    John holds a Degree in Ballet Pedagogy (Vaganova Technique) from the Hoschule fur Musik und Theater Muenchen (University of Music and Performing Arts Munich), and has trained at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and the Australian Ballet School. John is a registered ACB Teacher.

Ballet / Contemporary

  • After completing an Advanced Diploma of Dance at the Australian Ballet School Anastasia began her professional career in ballet with the Queensland Ballet. She then moved to Europe and after a short stint with the Graz Opera Ballet, joined the Norwegian National Ballet where she danced both principal and soloist roles.

    Following this Anastasia joined Sweden's Gothenburg Opera Ballet, performing works by renowned contemporary choreographers including Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, Jacopo Godani, Tero Saarinen and Ohad Naharin.

    Returning to Australia, Anastasia joined The Australian Dance Theatre and danced in works by Gary Stewart including Birdbrain, Held and the Age Of Unbeauty. After retiring from performing, and 11 years and 3 kids later, she returned briefly to dance with Expressions Dance Company at the age of 40.

    Anastasia is also an Australian Memory Champion, the first female to be named as having the best memory in Australia. She holds several Australian memory records. She has adapted these memory techniques and can teach dancers to quickly create and accurately remember newly choreographed movement sequences. Anastasia regularly appears in the news and on radio as a memory expert, and was a contestant on Australian Survivor.

    She also holds a Bachelor of Economics, is a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo and is a keen Yoga enthusiast.

Jazz / Commercial

  • Ellie is an all-around performer trained in all styles of dance since the age of nine, including in Classical Ballet (Cecchetti), Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical and Commercial Street Styles.

    Ellie has worked extensively in the dance industry for over ten years. Her credits include:

    - Shanghai Disney Resort Opening and Returning Cast Member (2016-2018 & 2019), performing as a stage show dancer in Summer Blast, Golden Fairytale Fanfare and Fantasy Festival. Ellie was also friends with Princess Aurora, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Princess Anna and Queen Elsa.
    - Bonds MOVE Campaign (2022).
    - Performer at BrisFEST (2022).
    - Company member with Pink Matter Entertainment (2018 & 2020-2023).
    - Cheerleader for the Brisbane Broncos (2015/16 & 2018/2019) and the Brisbane Bullets (2018/2019 & 2021/2022).
    - Dancer in various international shows, including: Huawei in Tokyo, Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut Champagne Opening in Beijing; Morinda Show in Qingdao, 17th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition and GHAC Night – Honda in Shanghai.
    - Dancer in various local shows and performances (including Shade, On the Spot, Designate, Head Over Heels, Sensory and the Pink Matter Pop Up Cabaret Show), music videos and corporate events.

    Ellie has trained internationally as a dancer in Tokyo and Shanghai, and as a rhythmic gymnast in Bulgaria, Russia and America. She has also represented Queensland and Australia at international rhythmic gymnastics competitions in South Africa, Egypt, Portugal, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Russia and in America.

    Ellie continues to train across different dance styles across Brisbane and believes that versatility is important for a successful career in the current commercial industry. Her favourite dance styles to teach include Commercial Jazz and Lyrical Contemporary.

Hip Hop

  • Loïc teaches Hip Hop foundations and is particularly passionate about sharing training techniques for students to have fun and develop their own movement within the style. In Loïc’s classes, you can expect to learn and practice the basics of Hip Hop technique, grooves, party dance steps, along with body control and musicality drills that will bring your Hip Hop to the next level, whether you are an absolute beginner, or a more experienced dancer.

    Loïc started dancing in late 2011, learning footwork off YouTube until he took his first dance class in 2013. In 2016, he discovered Hip Hop and never looked back. A passionate member of the local community, he has been deeply involved in the university and Brisbane dance scenes, organising events with UQ Street Groove and his crew ‘The 2nd Degree’ since 2016.

    Since 2022, Loïc has produced the BrisAsia Dance Battles, QLD's biggest street dance battle event, attracting dancers from all over Australia and international guests annually. His favourite competitive achievement was winning the Elements Collective Halloween Battles in 2022 with his crew.

Choreography / Grooves

  • Wanida is a creative director, choreographer and performance artist.

    Professionally working for over a decade, Wanida has become an industry leader in the dance scene by educating, hosting events, performing, continually pushing boundaries through movement and action.

    Some of her performance highlights are: Jess B, Jessica Mauboy, Commonwealth Games, The Special Olympics, Puma as well as featuring in campaigns for Vice, Absolut Vodka & Fox Sports. She has also choreographed and performed for multiple music videos and fashion label campaigns.

    Wanida has honed her dance and choreography skills by training in Los Angeles, Japan, Singapore and all over Australia. She has competed and judged many battles and trains her team in the art of freestyle dance. Often judging at events, teaching classes/workshops and producing work, she is highly active in the dance community with 4 sold out independent productions under her belt. One of her proudest achievements is producing and creatively directing production, ‘The Type’ for Brisbane Festival and Metro Arts 2020 season.

    In 2017 Wanida founded Pink Matter, an independent company aimed at creating opportunities and highlighting powerful women in the community. Through Pink Matter she is passionate about breaking current stereotypes within the entertainment industry by diversifying the dance sector and breaking down barriers for dancers from different backgrounds of all shapes and sizes. Pink Matter focuses are, creating paid opportunities for local professionals and organising community and public dance events such as ‘safe space’ workshops for women, industry programs and inclusive industry nights showcasing up and coming and established choreographers/dancers.

    Wanida continues to strive to inspire, mentor and be a pillar of representation.

  • Eden Zerk is a natural performer and powerhouse known for her extraordinary talent and enduring dedication as an acclaimed artist and choreographer. Eden is a versatile dancer whose unique style is a fusion of Urban Hip Hop and R&B which stimulates her creativity, continually pushing boundaries as an artist.

    Eden’s dedication, love and respect for the hip hop culture at a young age led her to perform on Australia’s Got Talent, captivating audiences nationally and leading on to international recognition after a 6-month scholarship in LA.

    Eden spent 4 years living in Canada, building her career with a host of accolades. She has danced on tour with AP DHILLON around North America which featured her journey on the Amazon Prime series ‘Out of this World’ Tour and has taken lead as a Choreographer and Dancer for two of Diljit Dosanjh’s music videos ‘Umbrella’ & ‘Ghost’ and Tatum Nurjannah latest music video ‘Balboa’.

Ballet Pointe / Tap

  • Cherie’s early dance training began in Mildura, Victoria and Mount Isa Queensland where she took classes in Ballet, Irish Dance, Contemporary, Jazz and Tap. She had regular exposure to classes, competitions, workshops and performance opportunities across Eastern Australia with dancers and tutors from companies including the Australian Ballet, Queensland Ballet and Dance North.

    After moving to Toowoomba to attend university, Cherie continued her dance studies and teacher training under Dale Coles at the Toowoomba School of Dance. She taught Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Irish Dance and Street Funk in both Toowoomba and Stanthorpe and continued to perform across South East Queensland with a number of local troupes and performance companies including the Toowoomba Philharmonic Society and USQ Opera. A highlight was being cast as Louise in Roger and Hammerstein’s “Carousel”.

    Cherie moved to Brisbane after graduating from university and has continued to teach and choreograph on a freelance basis across Southern and South East Queensland. She has been teaching at MDH since 2016 and is passionate about teaching adults of all ages and levels of experience.

Contemporary

  • Jacob Watton is a Brisbane-based choreographer and performer. Recently graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance at QUT. His choreographic credits include: Into the Blender, 2014 supported by the RADF and Queensland Government, Here, In My Bed, 2015 and Human (read Humane), 2016 at the DIY Festival, Loops, 2016 as part of the dance film series ‘Motion Capture’ and the development of and JULIET at the FAST Festival and QUT’s NEXUS series of original dance work. Most recently he premiered his first full length dance work, and JULIET, at the Supercell Contemporary Dance Festival in Brisbane.

    Jacob has danced in works by Richard Causer (We Are Schadenfreude), Gareth Belling (Before), Yolande Brown (The Tipping Point, The Tipping Point: Beijing Dance Tour), Jen Murray (Brief Encounters, Vacancies of the Heart), Matthew Lawrence (A Short History of Life), Csaba Buday (Pack), Lucas Jervies (Smile), and Jack Chambers (Until Late).

    Most recently Jacob is undergoing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at QUT where he is investigating choreographic practice and transdisciplinary collaboration.

Jazz / Commercial

  • Courtney is a versatile, passionate upcoming dancer/teacher who grew up training in the Brisbane scene. Beginning her training a little later at the age of 14, Courtney realised quickly this is exactly the career she wanted to pursue and worked hard in various styles such as jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical and commercial street styles and commercial heels and went on to complete 2 years of full time training at Queensland College of Dance from 2020 - 2021. Courtney continues to train and grow as a performer, consistently taking classes, professional courses and workshops from fellow industry professionals while working on various gigs/shows.

    While Courtney loves performing she also finds joy in sharing her love and knowledge for dance, especially jazz, with others and began her teaching journey at 18. She is always looking to grow and evolve as a teacher and aims to educate and help others fall in love with dance just as much as she has.

Popping

  • Local Brisbane dancer Matt “Boogie Stretch” has over eight years of experience in the street styles of Popping & Locking. Having started in 2014, he was one of the few beginner-level dancers entering battles at the time.

    Fellow Mad Dance teacher Loic formed ‘The 2nd Degree’ with Matt in 2016, and they have been entering battles together ever since.

    Matt later qualified for Team Queensland at ‘Popping Nation 2017’ in Sydney, and again in 2018 where the team took 2nd place nationally.

    Matt also enjoys choreographing fun, over-the-top performances for events such as BrisAsia and International Dance Day.

  • Born in Perth, Alexa kicked off her dance journey at 14 years old with global champion team 'The Society' where she spent years competing, performing, and choreographing.

    Alexa has performed in major shows like The Royal Family Australian Tour, Red Bull - Dance Your Style entertainment bracket in Brisbane and the World Dance Crew Competition.

    A highlight has been living in Los Angeles for 8 months training with some of the industry’s top choreographers.,a long with participating in the infamous 'Take Flight' program in Dublin, Ireland under the guidance of Kerrie Milne.

    With a strong foundation in Hip Hop, Dancehall, Afro, and House, Alexa brings her own flavour to every class—blending styles and energy to create choreography that feels good and lets dancers fully express themselves.

  • Clare Dark is an emerging artist based in Meanjin, Brisbane, with a focus in contemporary dance and dance theatre.

    Clare formally trained in full-time ballet in Western Australia during her late teens, followed by tertiary education at the Queensland University of Technology. Upon graduating with a Distinction in Performing Arts, Clare has since developed a growing independent practice grounded in movement and collaborative performance-making.

    Clare has participated in a number of festivals and events, including Anywhere Festival, Backbone Festival, Horizon Festival, HOTA Underground, soloist in Stephanie Lake’s Colossus, Studio1’s Testing Site, and as a performer and collaborator for BAHALA/O at Metro Arts.

Contemporary

  • Georgia has a tertiary degree in dance from QUT. She is an independent contemporary dancer, choreographer and teacher in Brisbane.

    Georgia has an effervescent personality, is down to earth and mightily skilled and dedicated to her practice.

    She has danced in festivals locally and internationally including Elektra (Montreal, Canada) Arts Electronica-(Linz, Austria) Supercell Dance Festival in Brisbane.

    Georgia centres her artistic practice around playfulness, which she encourages in her classes as well. Most recently, she has worked in development with Phluxus2 Dance Collective, performed in Voiiid Collective's premiere work, LAMINA, and had her short dance film Housesitting selected for La Danza in 1 Minuto's international online competition.

  • After studying classical/contemporary Claire has been fortunate enough to travel Australia and the world performing/creating.

    Claire has taught at numerous full time studios, dance schools and conducted professional open classes/workshops around Queensland, but also loves jumping onto the creative side of productions and seeing them come to life from the other side of the stage.

  • Glen has been teaching in Brisbane since 2017. He has competed on national and international stages, including prestigious events such as World of Dance and Arena Singapore.

    Despite his performance career, Glen’s true passion lies in teaching—specifically in mentoring others and nurturing their development.

    Glens classes are known for their focus on texture, musicality, and energy, with the environment fostering personal growth and a sense of community.

    Glen is also the director of “The Blueprint.”

  • Elton is a performer and choreographer based in Brisbane. From a young age, he developed a passion for theatre, musicals, and commercial dance, and has since built a career across stage and performance projects.

    With credits including UQ Theatre, Underground Broadway, and Millennial Productions, Elton brings a strong foundation in performance, musicality, and storytelling to everything he does.

    Alongside performing, Elton is ready to bring the training and guidance he received from his MDH mentors into the studio, specialising in commercial choreography. He is passionate about helping students build confidence, polish performances, and develop their own style—passing on the same lessons and mentorship that shaped his own journey.

Ballet

  • Kohei Iwamoto is a Japanese-born former ballet dancer who began his training at the Sadamatsu Hamada Ballet Studio in Hyogo. He later received a full scholarship to The Australian Ballet School after competing at the Youth America Grand Prix in Japan.

    Kohei launched his professional career with the Royal New Zealand Ballet in 2010, where he performed Principal roles in numerous major classical ballets, and took part in new creations by renowned choreographers including Liam Scarlett, Ethan Stiefel, Johan Kobborg, and Alexander Ekman. In 2018, he joined Queensland Ballet as a Soloist and was swiftly promoted to Senior Soloist just two months later by then Artistic Director Li Cunxin AO. During his time with the company, Kohei performed a wide range of leading roles, earning acclaim for his artistry, versatility, and stage presence.

    With over 15 years of international performance experience, Kohei now dedicates his energy to teaching and coaching. He brings a wealth of knowledge, creativity, and care to his work with emerging dancers, nurturing the next generation with the same passion that fuelled his own career.

  • Hannah Kelly trained in classical ballet and contemporary dance at the New Zealand School of Dance and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Queensland University of Technology. She has built an extensive career in the performing arts, working as an independent artist in Australia before relocating to Europe, where she performed with various companies in theatre houses including SemperOper Dresden, Landesbühnen Sachsen, Theater Basel, Staatstheater Cottbus, and Staatsoperette Dresden, as well as in numerous independent productions.

    In recent years, Hannah has transitioned into offstage roles and worked as rehearsal director and director’s assistant on productions with SemperOper Dresden, Landesbühnen Sachsen, Staatsoperette Dresden. She served as permanent Rehearsal Director for Tanz Company, Theater Regensburg from 2024–2025.

    Hannah has taught ballet and contemporary technique extensively for both professionals and beginners, and is excited to share her passion for dance through her classes. After 15 years abroad, Hannah has returned to Brisbane and is thoroughly enjoying reconnecting with the local arts community.

  • Anna Johnston moved to Australia from the Philippines at the age of 2 and found her life passion and purpose at the age of 5… you guessed it - Dance!

    With more than 15 years of experience, she has continued to establish a reputation as a powerhouse Choreographer, Creative Director, Teacher, and Mentor in the Industry.

    Anna is an all-around performer trained in all styles of dance. Her favourite most loved dance styles to teach would-be Commercial Jazz, JFH (Jazz/Funk/Hip Hop), and Stylised Jazz.

    Highly conceptual and with an undeniable zest, Anna has brought large-scale productions from the drawing board to the stage for corporate clients such as Lorna Jane, Mountain Designs, BMW, Suncorp, Footlocker, and various fashion brands, as well as working with Gold Coast and Brisbane City Councils.

    Nothing brings her more joy than the creative process - thinking of new ways to showcase talent, products, and services, and she has a knack for creating the big celebration on stage, teaching students and clients something new along the way.

Musical Theatre Jazz

  • Adam grew up on the Sunshine Coast, QLD and started with a local dance school at the age of Seven. After graduating high school in 2012, he undertook tertiary education at the Australian Dance Performance Institute (ADPI).

    Having started his first professional contract with Princess Cruises at age 18, he established and maintained a strong reputation with the company. During his time with Princess Cruises, Adam achieved many personal and professional goals as a performer, and became an asset to the company. Adam also got to work closely with world-renowned choreographers.

    Adam then undertook a fifteen month contract with Tokyo Disney Resort where he performed in One Man’s Dream II: the Magic Lives On (OMDII). Tokyo Disneyland’s highly respected and long-running stage show. Adam was not only a dancer, but was ‘friends with’ famous characters including Prince Phillip (Sleeping Beauty), Prince Charming (Cinderella), Captain Hook (Peter Pan) and Claude Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame).

    Adam dedicates his time to choreographing, teaching, performing and mentoring aspiring and professional performers.
